[Vobject] vCard 2.1 behaviour / Converting between 2.1 and 3.0

Hello list,

are there any efforts past, present or future to create a vCard 2.1
behaviour for VObject? Reason of my question is that vCard 2.1 is by
far more popular and AFAIK still the standard.

I would love to be able to use VObject to convert between versions
2.1 and 3.0. Does anyone have experience with that?
