It is quite possible. I have come across other people complaining about
problems (or at least confusing settings) for timezones in Google Calendar.

I will ask some people to give it a try in their accounts and see if it
is peculiar to mine.

I will report back to the list once I have some more data points, as it
might be useful other users searching the archives in the future.
